Though the medical insurance pays 80 per cent of the costs of medical care we still couldn't even pay the 20 per cent that we were responsible for. The Helping Fund gave us peace of mind by paying for us what we could not. Grateful doesn't begin to describe the feeling involved with knowing when you get to your last pennies more can come from Heaven through the hands of those involved with giving to the Helping Fund.
I do not see the story here and won't mention the names involved but at one Village Missions Conference we were deeply moved by a missionary who stood before us and openly wept. He shared how the Helping Fund paid for over $30,000.00 in expenses his wife had incurred in something not covered by medical insurance. Village Missionaries don't make high salaries, don't have large bank accounts or perhaps no savings accounts at all. We are here to serve Christ because we want to in little out of the way places most people don't even notice. What a comfort to know GOD is fully aware of a man and his wife who had a debt they couldn't pay, but HE could.
Don has had multiple kidney stones and required outpatient surgery 5 times in the last 3 years. We had been making monthly payments, trying to keep ahead of the bills, but with our move to a new field in Oregon and taking a reduction in salary, we didn't see how we could catch up. Thank you for giving to the Helping Fund and giving us a little "breathing room".
One of our sons was having severe headaches which resulted in several expensive tests being done. During that time the transmission on our van quit working. So we were facing two large bills that would have caused my wife to have to work. But then we remembered the helping fund. We contacted the mission and they said the helping fund would take care of our expenses so we could continue to serve unhindered on our mission field. We are so thankful to those who gave so that we could meet our expenses without anxiety or extra hardship.
We were very blessed by the Helping Fund just recently when our 3rd child was born and we owed about $3000. We had planned on making payments for many months to come when the Mission said that the Helping Fund was available for just such an occasion. It is so nice to be able to save money for the vehicle that we need instead. What a relief to have a burden lifted by people - many we do not even know. Thank you to all who donate to the Helping Fund and care so deeply about our needs.
The Helping fund really helped us in meeting dental bills that our family incurred. Though we were paying around two hundred dollars a month on our bill, my wife had a couple of urgent dental problems that put us in such debt that we couldn't see how we could ever pay it off. Well, we applied to the Helping Fund and through the generosity of other people giving to help others in need (like us), we were able to pay off most of our dental bill at that time. We thank God that the Helping Fund was there to help us get out of what could have been some serious financial problems.
